Has anyone been noticing the exquisite use of gerunds in the Paschal Preface?
We will not begin any new topics this week. Review all vocab and Lessons for the entire year to prepare for the exam. The exam will be mainly vocab and translating. I am available this week for any small groups who would like to come review for the exam.

I am back in Walton this week and available Wed. - Fri. If anyone needs tutoring to catch up, let me know, I would be happy to work something out, especially if a few of you would like to come at the same time.
Assignment: Lesson 27
Well, we are sadly running out of time, so we are going to skip to Lesson 26: the gerund! Today we would have had a tangent about St. Augustine since it's his mom's feast day (and mine, say a prayer for her)...St. Monica. Then tomorrow we have St. Pius V (Tridentine Mass and Lepanto among other things). Oh well, good luck with this week even though we still can't have class together! You are welcome to email or call if you need help.
Assignment: Lesson 26
Thank you for those of you who gave feedback. I will do my best to make adjustments and incorporate your ideas. I really don’t like how non-interactive class is now. If anyone has any ideas about how we can improve that, let me know. For now, it’s on to Lesson 24!
Assignment: Lesson 24
And we are back! Firstly, congrats on the NLE! 44% of the class earned medals. (That’s good!) We even had a couple of gold medals!
I did not get much of any feedback on our last Henle assignment, so we will continue as before. Please get in touch with me if you are lost. You cannot be faulted for being lost and confused, but you can be for just doing nothing about it it. Assignment: Lesson 23
We will not do a new chapter during this shortened week.
Assignment: Choose 5 verses containing the moment of Christ’s death from the either of the 4 Passions we read during Mass this week and translate them. You can find the Passion gospels in you missal: Palm Sunday - St. Matthew, Tuesday - St. Mark, Wednesday - St. Luke, Good Friday - St. John Well, our lenten penances are becoming heroic. Even the Desert Fathers didn’t give up Latin! Since we won’t be having actual class until after Easter at the earliest, we have to start working our way through Henle again. Enjoy!
Assignment: Lesson 22
If you are completely lost, I am available to go through things with you. Assignment:
Pick one Gospel from a Mass this week and translate it completely. Find 7 new words and copy them into your vocab notebook (Do not use a list from a lesson in the book). Daily Assignment:
Each day, read through the gospel in your missal and identify all accusative with infinite constructions, as well as all ablative absolutes. Translates into English only the sentences with these constructions. (There are not many, and not necessarily any in any given gospel.) |
